Certified electronic signature in Mexico

The federal government and different states in Mexico are developing legislation related to electronic signatures, which are often referred to as certified because they are backed by electronic certificates typical of a PKI (Public Key Infrastructure).

The states of Baja California Norte, Colima, Chiapas, Distrito Federal, Durango, Estado de México, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Puebla, Sonora, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Yucatán, Michoacán and Quintana Roo, have published their electronic signature laws and regulations, as of 2009, within the scope of their jurisdiction.

It should be clarified that the denomination used by the Mexican regulations does not reflect the same meaning given in the audit system developed by EADTrust. The model devised by EADTrust calls certified signature to that type of electronic signature managed in a system that faithfully complies with the technical and legal requirements applicable according to its location, which is endorsed by an audit performed by specialists.
